Valerie Schutte is a specialist of Tudor queens and their books.

She earned her PhD in History from the University of Akron and works independently.

She is author or editor of ten books on Queen Mary I, Anne of Cleves, unexpected heirs, and queens in Shakespeare. She is currently working on a short-form monograph about the legacy of Anne of Cleves and edited collections on Mary I and Continental humanism and fictional Tudor adaptations.

Valerie has also published several journal articles and book chapters on Queen Mary I, royal Tudor women, history of the book, and book dedications.

Her research interests include Queen Mary I, Anne of Cleves, Tudor queenship, book dedications, books related to Tudor kings.
